Jackie Robinson

While there are many African American players
in basaball's major leagues now, Jackie Robinson was a
first African Americn player.

He was opposed to segregation before playng in
major leagues.
When he was a second lieutenant in the United States Army,
he was arrested and court-martialed after refusing to
move to the back of a segregated bus.

After he became a major league player,
The harassment did not end.
But he didn't yield.
And by the grace of Baseball Commissioner,
Star players, he aws able to continue playing base ball.

He showed everyone what a talented player he was.
In his first year(1947), he was selected as Rookie of the Year.
And he earned the National League's Most Valuable Player
Award in the 1949 season.
Finally, in 1955, he helped Dodgers achive the ultimate
victory: the World Series.
His success in the major leagues opened the door for
other African American players.

I think the one who try to defeat customs and tradition
will be severely critisized by public.
In spite of segregation, he didn't yield.
We should follow his great courage.

Transfer

A possibility rised.
Elton Brand might transfer to the Golden State Warriors.
It is said that this is ploblem of salary cap space.
He played only eight games last season while recovering from a ruptured Achilles' tendon.
And he was due to $16.4 millionnext season.
If Brand departs the Clippers, they would have enough salary cap space to re-sign Corey Maggette, who was their leading scorerlast season and was due to make $7 million next season.
But Brand is well-received and respected within the organization not only his sirious attitude to the game but also his behavior off the court.
Indeed, salary cap space is important issue, but I think personality is more important for the team.
